Easy French Onion Soup Recipe

How to make onion soup recipe


4 Chopped onions
3 Tablespoons of butter
3 Tablespoons of flour
Black pepper and salt to taste
1 Teaspoon white sugar
2 Cups of meat broth
1 1/2 Cups of water
½ Teaspoon dried parsley
½ Teaspoon dried thyme
1 French baguette, cut into 1/2-inch slices
½ Grated mozzarella cheese


  • In a large saucepan over medium heat, sauté the onions in the butter or ghee for 10 minutes, or until the onions are soft. Add the flour, ground black pepper, salt and sugar to form a doughy mixture.
  • Now add the meat broth, water, parsley and thyme and leave it on low heat for 10 minutes. And preheat the oven.
  • Fill three-quarters of the bowl with soup. A slice of bread is placed on top of the soup and covered with cheese. Put the dishes in the oven.
  • Grill it in the oven until the cheese melts and bubbles form.
  • Serve the soup hot.
