Egyptian Brown Sayadieh Rice Recipe

- 1 big onion, minced
- Garlic and celery, minced (optional)
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp cumin
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- Nutmeg, to taste
- 2 tsp sugar (Or 2 tsp Ketchup)
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 2 cups rice, rinsed
How to Make Simple Brown Sayadieh Rice Recipe:
Fry the onion in a deep oil for a while, add garlic and celery then stir well till the onion is brown. Add tomato paste and sugar, or ketchup then stir for a minute. Add the rice and stir till they are mixed well. Add boiling water, cover the pan and simmer for 20 minutes till the rice is cooked. This dish is served hot with any kind of fish and decorated with cilantro or parsley leaves.
