Shawarma a kind of sandwiches contains multiple nutrients, and doesn’t take too much time for preparing, also does not contain significant calories. This recipe from Oriental cuisine, you can use different kinds of meat such as; beef, lamb, or chicken meat.
The basic things you’ll need:
You will need a Grill, about the bread you can use different kinds such as; Pita bread, French bread…etc. you’ll need also some tahini sauce, some fresh grilled tomatoes (very small cubes), parsley, some cucumber pickles (slice off slivers), and some fresh onions (very small cubes)
1 kg of lamb fillet or beef roast cut sliced like small strips.
1/2 cup of red wine vinegar
1/2 cup of olive oil
Amount of onions juice
Spice mix such as; 1 teaspoon each of ground nutmeg, ground cardamom, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, ground allspice, ground black pepper, and salt.
Garnish: 1/2 bunch of parsley, 1 onion (very small cubes), , 3 large tomatoes (very small cubes), and Tahini Salad.
1 bag of small pita bread
Cut the meat thin strips, add onion juice, vinegar, 1/2 cup of olive oil, also the spices, and put the meat in a fridge for 12 hours .
Cooking the meat over medium heat, with stir it until the meat gets a dark color. also you can use a grill, BBQ, a large skillet to cook the strips over high heat
for 2 or 3 minutes until they turn brown.
If the meat still raw you can add half cup of water.
Now you can add the fresh grilled of tomatoes
(very small cubes), parsley, and onion.
Now you can start to do your Sandwiches.
To serve the shawarma sandwich:
– Chop the parsley, onion and slice the tomatoes. As soon as the meat is cooked, serve it with loaf of French bread and vegetables and sauce. You can also offer cucumber, and turnip pickles, you can add Tahini salad, or cheese into your Sandwiches.
