Egyptian Rice with Milk Recipe

Egyptian Sweet Rice with Milk Recipe


Rice with milk is a dessert made with rice, milk and sugar. It is garnished with raisins and nuts or cinnamon. Egyptians prefers the cinnamon because it gives a good taste and garnish. It is a well-known dessert in some of the Arabian countries and it has different names according to every country.

Mothers prefer this recipe because it is rich with calcium that is essential for their children. It is also an easy recipe similar to the pudding.

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Servings: 1



1 cup skimmed milk
3 tbsp. rice, washed
2 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. light sugar
pinch of vanilla
¼ tsp. cinnamon



  1. In a pot over heat, bring the milk to a boil. Add rice and a pinch of vanilla. Stir from time to time to make sure it won’t stick.
  2. Add sugar over milk to have a smooth, and not thick, mixture.
  3. Pour the rice with milk in glasses and garnish with cinnamon.


Serve it cold!
